13일 부평구에 따르면 국가유산청은 이날 '부평 미쓰비시 줄사택'을 국가등록문화유산(국가등록문화재)으로 등록 예고했다.

미쓰비시 줄사택은 일제강점기 전범기업인 미쓰비시제강의 조선인 노동자들이 묵었던 합숙소이자 국내에 유일하게 남아있는 미쓰비시제강의 강제 동원 흔적이다.

부평구는 이번 국가등록문화유산 등록 예고에 대해 국가유산청이 미쓰비시 줄사택의 역사성과 주거사적 측면의 가치를 인정한 결과라고 풀이했다.

국가유산청은 이번 부평 미쓰비시 줄사택의 국가등록문화유산 정식 등록 조건으로 부평구에 종합정비계획 마련을 주문했다.이에 구는 정부 지원 등 다양한 방법으로 계획을 수립할 계획이다.

앞서 구는 ▲부평역사박물관의 '미쓰비시를 품은 여백,sls 프린터사택마을 부평삼릉' 학술 총서 발간(2016년) ▲미쓰비시 줄사택 학술 토론회 개최(2019년) ▲줄사택 기록화 및 보고서 발간(2021년) ▲지역주민·전문가 등으로 구성된 민관협의회 개최 및 정책권고안 도출(2021~2022년) 등 줄사택의 역사적 가치를 보존하고 알리기 위해 노력해 왔다.

차준택 부평구청장은 "국가유산청의 이번 결정을 환영한다"면서 "정부 지원을 통해 더 체계적으로 줄사택을 관리할 수 있도록 노력하겠다"고 말했다.
