[서울=뉴시스] 박대로 기자 = 오세훈 서울시장이 최근 논란이 된 광화문광장 100m 높이 태극기와 관련해 수정안을 내놓을지 주목된다.

8일 서울시에 따르면,에스파 월드컵오 시장은 지난 7일 KBS 일요진단에 출연해 태극기 게양대에 관해 언급하며 "설명이 많이 부족했다.(조감도는) 비율을 생각하지 않고 설명을 쉽게 하기 위해 만든 자료라 오해가 생겼다"고 했다.

그러면서 오 시장은 "설계 공모를 하게 되면 훨씬 가늘다"며 "광화문광장의 디자인이 깨지지 않는다"고 강조했다.

오 시장은 110억원 예산 투입 논란에 관해서도 "게양대를 하나 만드는 데 110억원이 아니라 그 밑에 여러 가지 부대시설들이 있다"며 "조만간 직접 설명을 드릴 것"이라고 밝혔다.

앞서 오 시장은 지난 1일 민선 8기 취임 2주년 기자간담회에서도 "이 문제는 귀를 더 열겠다"며 "저는 합리적인 사람이기 때문에 합리적인 비판에는 반응한다.조만간 설명할 기회가 있을 것"이라고 밝힌 바 있다.

이에 따라 오 시장이 어떤 내용을 발표할지 주목된다.

다만 계획을 전면 철회할 가능성은 희박해 보인다.여권 내에서 찬성 의견이 적지 않아서다.

오 시장은 지난 4일 채널A유튜브 '라디오쇼 정치시그널'에 출연해 홍준표 대구시장이 태극기 게양대 설치 계획에 찬성했다고 언급한 바 있다.그는 "(홍 시장으로부터) '광화문에 태극기는 지지합니다'라고 한 줄 답신이 왔다"고 밝힌 바 있다.
