(서울=뉴스1) 김성식 권진영 기자 = 페루 해안에서 28일(현지시간) 발생한 규모 7.2 지진의 영향으로 쓰나미 경보가 발령됐다.

AFP 통신에 따르면 미국 지질조사국(USGS)은 이날 새벽 페루 해안 도시 아티키파 앞바다에서 발생한 이번 지진으로 곳에 따라 최대 3m 높이의 쓰나미가 일 수 있다고 경고했다.

당초 USGS는 이번 지진의 규모를 7.0으로 추정하면서 쓰나미 위험은 없다고 판단했다.그러나 규모를 7.2로 상향 조정한 뒤 즉각 쓰나미 경보를 내렸다.

다만 페루 지진으로 인한 일본의 쓰나미 위험은 없다고 미 태평양쓰나미경보센터(PTWC)는 밝혔다.

이번 지진은 현지시각으로 이날 오전 0시 36분(한국시각 오후 2시 36분) 아티키파에서 서쪽으로 8.8㎞ 떨어진 해상에서 발생했다.

진원은 남위 15.82·서경 74.42도이며 진앙의 깊이는 10㎞로 추정된다.지진을 최초 보고한 독일 지구과학연구센터(GFZ)는 지진의 규모를 6.9로 추정했으나,유로파 컨퍼런스이후 7.2로 상향 조정했다.
