급가속 억제장치 내년부터 의무화 검토

이런 가운데 옆나라 일본에서 우리도 한 번 생각해 볼만한 정책을 추진합니다.내년부터 가속페달을 실수로 밟더라도 가속을 억제하는 장치를 의무화할 방침인데 5년 전 고령 운전자가 브레이크 대신 가속페달을 밟아 모녀가 숨진 사고가 결정적이었습니다.

점심시간 대낮에 도로에 널브러진 차들.

지난 2019년 4월 있었던 '이케부쿠로 폭주 사고' 현장입니다.

당시 87세 운전자가 브레이크 대신 가속페달을 밟아버리면서 150m를 시속 96km로 돌진했습니다.

자전거를 타고 있던 모녀가 이 사고로 숨지고 9명이 크게 다쳤습니다.

당시 사고 현장에 세워진 위령비에는 "교통사고로 평온한 일상을 빼앗기는 사람이 다시는 없기를"이라는 문구가 쓰여 있습니다.

누군가가 두고 간 꽃다발도 있는데요.

여전히 이런 불행은 반복되고 있습니다.

일본은 이 사고 이후 고령자 운전의 위험성에 대한 논의가 급물살을 타,75세 이상 운전자에겐 면허를 자진 반납할 것을 종용하고,삼성 불펜면허 갱신 시 인지능력 시험 등이 생겨났습니다.

하지만,삼성 불펜교통이 상대적으로 불편한 지방 등 차를 고집하는 경우도 있다 보니 큰 효과는 보지 못하는 상황.

지난달 30일 이바라키현의 한 주차장에서도 후진하던 차 운전자가 액셀을 밟아 서 있던 2명을 쳐 1명이 숨졌습니다.

일본 경찰청에 따르면 지난해 고령 운전자가 내는 사망사고 비율은 비고령 운전자의 2배에 달했고,삼성 불펜이중 브레이크와 액셀을 착각하는 등 부적절한 운전이 가장 큰 원인으로 지목됩니다.

일본 정부는 자동차를 만드는 과정부터 손을 대기 시작했습니다.

가속 페달을 브레이크로 오인해 세게 밟는 경우 속도를 내지 못하도록 억제하는 장치를 내년부터 의무화할 방침입니다.
