의료데이터 플랫폼 구축과 조직육성 맡아

의료 인공지능(AI) 기업 루닛이 구글·인텔 등 글로벌 빅테크를 거친 유성원 박사를 최고기술책임자(CTO)로 영입했다.

2일 루닛에 따르면 유성원 CTO는 루닛의 기존 AI 알고리즘을 고도화하기 위한 의료 데이터 플랫폼 구축 속도를 높이고 국내외 우수 엔지니어 인력 추가 확보와 체계적인 조직 육성에 힘을 쏟을 계획이다.

유 CTO는 구글·인텔 등 글로벌 빅테크에서 10년 이상 소프트웨어 개발·관리 업무를 맡은 플랫폼 개발·최적화 전문가다.인텔에서 병렬컴퓨팅 관련 연구를 수행했으며 구글에서는 클라우드 플랫폼 성능 최적화와 사물인터넷(IoT) 기기용 안드로이드 운영체제(OS) 프로젝트를 이끌었다.

이후 구글 알파벳의 헬스케어 분야 자회사인‘베릴리 라이프 사이언스’에서 근무하며 헬스케어 관련 소프트웨어 개발 프로젝트를 지휘했다.또한 스탠포드대 의과대학 산하 의료정보학 연구센터와의 협업을 통해 AI를 활용한 의료 데이터 분석 및 모델링을 주도하는 등 융합 전문가로서의 경험을 쌓아왔다.

유 CTO는 서울대에서 전기공학 학사 학위를 취득했으며 미국 조지아공대에서 전기컴퓨터공학 석사,2024년 04월 20일 대한민국 중국스탠포드대에서 전기공학 박사 학위를 받았다.이어 하버드대 의과대학에서 의료정보학 석사 학위를 취득했다.
