엘지에너지솔루션이 배터리 셀 설계 기간을 단축하는 인공지능(AI) 기술을 개발했다.

엘지(LG)에너지솔루션은 배터리 셀 설계 기간을 2주에서 하루로 단축한 인공지능 솔루션을 개발했다고 14일 밝혔다.이번에 개발한 모형은,원하는 성능 요건을 입력하면 최적의 배터리 셀 설계안을 하루만에 도출하는‘최적 셀 설계 인공지능 추천 모형’이다.그동안 배터리 셀 설계는 고객사가 원하는 용량,에너지밀도,저항 등 주요 성능 인자를 만족하는‘최적의 셀’조성을 도출하기 위해 약 2주가 소요됐다.엘지에너지솔루션은 “배터리 생산의 첫 단추라고 할 수 있는 셀 설계 단계에서 인공지능 기술을 도입해 업무를 효율화하고 고객 가치를 제고할 수 있게 됐다”고 설명했다.

엘지에너지솔루션은 이르면 올해 10월부터 사내 셀 개발 시스템에‘최적 셀 인공지능 추천 모형’을 연동해 배터리 셀 설계에 점차 활용해 나갈 계획이다.현재는 시범 적용 중이다.이후 배터리 셀 뿐만 아니라 배터리 모듈 및 팩 설계에도 해당 인공지능 기술 적용을 적극 추진해 나간다는 계획이다.

삼성에스디아이(SDI)도 관련 기술을 개발 중이다.배터리 개발 단계를 공정 단위별로 모듈화하고 배터리 연구개발,생산,갈리나 슬롯 무료테스트 관련 축적된 데이터를 기계학습,단계별 산식을 수립하는 데 인공지능 기술을 활용하기 위해서다.반복적인 머신러닝으로 재료,갈리나 슬롯 무료설계가 배터리 성능에 미칠 수 있는 영향에 대한 데이터를 수집,갈리나 슬롯 무료분석하고 원자·물질·전극·셀·시스템 등 배터리 개발 단위별 설계와 여러 단위가 조합된 설계가 배터리 성능에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 확인,예측하는 산식을 만드는 것이 목표다.
