강릉시가 한국은행 강릉본부 부지 내에 있는 수령 200년 된 향나무 보호수 지정에 나선다.

14일 시에 따르면 최근 강원도에 한국은행 강릉본부(경강로 2063번지) 부지 내 향나무 한 그루에 대해 보호수 지정 신청을 했다.

향후 도에서는 보호수 지정 예정 공고 후 보호수심의위원회 심의를 통해 보호수 지정 여부를 결정할 예정이다.

수령 200년 이상된 것으로 추정되는 이 향나무는 1930년대 초 일제의 강제 공출 명령에 따라 강동면 모전리 뙡마을에 있던 당시 수령 100년 이상의 향나무를 마을 청년 20여명이 하루 종일 목도로 운반해 8.5km 떨어진 현 한국은행 강릉본부 자리로 이식했다.이후 이 향나무는 옛 명주군청 청사와 줄곧 함께했으며 1980년 한국은행 강릉본부가 들어설 때도 자리를 지켰다.

시는 아픈 역사를 기록하고,kbo 심판 오심향나무의 체계적인 관리를 위해 보호수 지정 신청 결정을 내렸다.

현재 강릉에서 관리하고 있는 보호수는 36곳,kbo 심판 오심73본이다.

시 관계자는 "나무 전문가를 통해 해당 나무에 대한 조사를 마친 결과 보호수 지정 가치고 있다고 판단했다"며 "역사·문화적으로 가치가 있는 보호수를 지속적으로 발굴해 체계적으로 보호·관리해 나가겠다"고 말했다.
