31명의 사상자가 발생한 경기 화성시 일차전지 제조업체 아리셀 공장 화재 사고 수사가 조만간 강제수사로 전환될 전망입니다.

25일 수사당국에 따르면 경기남부경찰청 화재 사고 수사본부는 업무상 과실치사상 등의 혐의로 아리셀 박순관 대표 등 5명을 피의자 신분으로 전환하고,전원 출국 금지했습니다.

화재 발생 하루 만에 사고의 주요 책임자들에 대한 형사 처벌 절차에 돌입한 것입니다.

이번 화재는 사망자 23명,브루마부상자 8명 등 총 31명의 사상자가 발생해 1989년 전남 여수 국가산업단지 내 럭키화학 폭발 사고(사망 16명,부상 17명) 보다 인명 피해 규모가 큰 역대 최악의 화학 공장 사고로 기록될 전망입니다.

경찰은 이런 점을 고려해 대상자 입건 및 출국 금지 등의 조처를 신속하게 진행했습니다.

화재 사망자 중 대다수인 18명이 외국인(중국인 17명,라오스인 1명)인 점도 경찰 수사가 속도감 있게 진행되는 주요 이유 중 하나로 꼽힙니다.

화재 등의 사고에서 다수의 사상자가 발생할 경우,경찰은 사안의 무게를 고려해 수사본부를 편성합니다.

이후 관계지 진술 청취,주요 책임자 입건 및 출국금지,브루마현장 감식에 이어 압수수색을 하는 것이 통상적인 절차입니다.

이번에 경찰이 강제수사에 앞선 대부분의 절차를 밟은 점을 감안하면,브루마이번 주 중에 압수수색을 단행할 수도 있습니다.

경찰 관계자는 "수사 중인 사안이므로 아무 말도 해줄 수 없다"고 말했습니다.

앞서 지난 24일 오전 10시 30분쯤 화성시 서신면 전곡리 아리셀 공장 3동에서 불이 나 23명이 숨지고,8명이 다쳤습니다.

시신의 훼손 상태가 심해 현재까지 전체 사망자 중 3명의 신원만 확인됐습니다.
