[서울=뉴시스] 최윤서 인턴 기자 = 세계적인 휴양지 인도네시아 발리가 관광세 도입 넉 달 만에 큰 폭의 인상을 추진한다.

24일(현지시간) 발리 타임스는 지난 19일 발리 주의회가 본회의를 열어 발리 관광세 인상에 대해 논의했다고 보도했다.

크레스나 부디 주의원은 이날 회의에서 10달러(약 1만4000원) 수준인 발리 관광세가 너무 저렴해 발리를 값싼 관광지처럼 보이게 한다며 이를 50달러(약 7만원)로 인상해야 한다고 주장했다.

그는 발리에서 벌어지는 관광객의 다양한 추태들에 대해 언급한 뒤 “발리를 찾는 사람들은 뻔뻔하게 현지 법과 규범을 무시하는 사람이 아니라 더 높은 수준의 사람들이어야 한다”고 강조했다.

그러면서 관광세를 올려 늘어난 수입은 발리주 교육과 보건 부문에 사용하자고 제안했다.

발리 관광세를 올리려면 주의회에서 지방 규정을 개정하면 된다며 발리 주지사도 관광세 인상을 검토 중이라고 현지 언론은 전했다.

한편 발리주 정부는 관광세가 제대로 걷히지 않고 있다며 관광세 납부 확인을 강화할 계획이라고 밝힌 것으로 알려졌다.

발리 관광청에 따르면,타크트로이메관광세 도입 이후 현재까지 발리를 방문한 외국인은 220만여 명에 달하지만 이 중 40%만 관광세를 납부했다.관광청은 국제선에 비해 국내선 공항 점검이 상대적으로 느슨해서 생긴 일이라고 설명했다.

발리는 지난 2월14일부터 입국하는 외국인 관광객에 1인당 15만 루피아(약 1만3000원)의 관광세를 걷고 있다.
