모기기피제의 효과는 보통 4~5시간 이상 지속되므로,같은 부위에 자주 사용하거나 필요 이상 많은 양을 사용할 필요가 없다.식품의약품안전처는 양쪽 팔의 표면적을 넘어설 정도의 넓은 부위에 사용하거나 장시간 사용하지 않도록 권고하고 있다.
