잔디광장·맨발산책로·물억새군락지 등 갖춰용인시 처인구 유방동의 방치된 도심 공터가 산책로와 물억새군락지를 품은 친환경 쉼터로 탈바꿈했다.

용인시는 처인구 유방동 234-2 일대 8184㎡ 규모의 '유방동 도시숲' 조성을 마치고 개장했다고 14일 밝혔다.

영동고속도로 용인 IC와 인접한 이 부지는 경안천과 가까운 공지로,그동안 인근 주민들의 공원 조성 요청이 꾸준히 이어진 곳이다.

시는 주민 요청을 설계에 적극적으로 반영해 이 일대에 잔디광장과 산책로를 품은 소공원 형태로 도시숲을 조성했다.잔디광장 주변에는 느티나무,삼성라이온즈 포항이팝나무 등의 나무를 심고 둘레길 형태로 480m 길이의 마사토 맨발 산책로를 만들었다.경안천을 따라 걸을 수 있는 120m 구간에는 데크 로드와 습지 형태의 물억새군락지도 조성했다.

잔디마당과 산책로에는 태양광을 활용한 경관 조명과 스마트 벤치 등도 설치했다.특히 잔디광장 가운데 설치한 달과 토끼 모양의 경관 조명은 낮에는 조형물로,삼성라이온즈 포항밤에는 조명으로 바뀌며 공원 이용객들에게 색다른 볼거리를 제공한다.

앞서 시는 지난해 4월과 8월 한강유역환경청의 '한강수계 수변 녹지 조성',경기도 '소공원 환경조성' 사업에서 유방동 도시숲 조성을 공모해 선정됐다.이를 통해 국·도비 6억원을 지원받고 시비 3억원을 들여 사업을 완료했다.도시숲 부지가 환경부 소유여서 27억원의 토지 매입비를 절감하는 효과도 거뒀다고 설명했다.

시 관계자는 "앞으로도 경안천 일대 공유지를 활용해 주민 휴식 공간을 늘리도록 최선을 다하겠다"고 말했다.
