여름철,더위에 시달려 면역력이 떨어지면 생기기 쉬운 질병 중 하나가 '대상포진'인데요.

특히 노인이나 만성질환이 있는 사람은 후유증으로 심한 신경통이 남을 확률이 높아 백신 접종이 중요합니다.

4년 전 얼굴에 대상포진이 생긴 70대 여성입니다.

후유증으로 오른쪽 눈 위부터 이마와 머리까지 통증이 남았습니다.

대상포진은 면역력이 약해졌을 때,잠복해 있던 수두 바이러스가 신경을 파고들면서 생깁니다.

지난 5년간 여름철에는 연평균 환자 수를 10% 이상 웃도는 대상포진 환자가 발생했습니다.

무더위로 면역력이 떨어진 탓입니다.

주된 증상은 송곳에 찔리거나 칼에 베인 듯한 통증인데,겪고 난 뒤에도 3명 중 1명은 후유증으로 신경통을 앓습니다.

특히 기저질환이 있거나 나이가 많을수록 후유증 위험이 커 백신을 접종하는 게 좋습니다.

[박휴정/서울성모병원 마취통증의학과 교수 : "(백신 접종은) 50세 이상의 당뇨나 고혈압 등 기저질환이 있는 성인을 대상으로 하고요.18세 이상에서도 면역 억제제나 면역 저하인 환자에서는 모두 대상으로 접종할 수 있습니다."]

최근엔 백신 효과도 개선되고 있습니다.

접종 후 대상포진 예방률이 50살 이상은 97%,카지노 김소정70살 이상은 91%로 높습니다.

대상포진에 이미 걸렸던 사람도 10명 중 1명이 재발하므로 예방접종이 필요합니다.
