KBS가 제79주년 광복절인 15일 첫 방송으로 기미가요가 나오는 오페라를 편성해 시청자들의 원성을 사고 있다.

KBS1은 이날 오전 0시 'KBS중계석'을 통해 지난 6월 예술의전당 무대를 녹화한 대한민국 오페라 페스티벌 '나비부인'을 편성했다.

오페라 '나비부인'은 푸치니의 동명 소설을 바탕으로 작곡한 오페라다.미국이 일본을 강제 개항시킨 1900년대 일본 항구도시 나가사키를 배경으로 15세에 게이샤가 된 나비부인 조초상과 미군 장교 핑커톤의 비극적인 사랑 이야기가 나온다.

'나비부인'의 여자 주인공을 비롯한 등장인물들은 오페라에서 기모노를 입고 등장한다.특히 초초상과 핀커튼의 결혼식 장면에선 기미가요가 나온다.

이를 두고 KBS 시청자 게시판에는 하필 광복절에 기미가요가 등장한 프로그램 편성이 적절했냐는 비판이 쏟아지고 있다.

한 시청자는 게시판에 "제정신이 아니다.수신료로 무얼 하느냐"며 "KBS가 대한민국 방송이라는 게 부끄럽고 화가 난다"고 지적했다.

또 다른 시청자는 "이건 고의적이다.기다렸다는 듯 12시 땡 하자마자 기미가요가 말이 되느냐"는 반응을 보였다.

아울러 이날 오전 KBS1은 '제79주년 광복절 경축식' 생중계 직전 날씨 예보를 하면서 건·곤·감·리 위치가 잘못된 태극기를 든 캐릭터를 내보내기도 했다.

이에 대해 누리꾼들은 "기미가요 나오는 오페라를 튼 것도 모자라 태극기까지" "하필 오늘 이러는 것도 능력이다" 와 같은 비판을 쏟아냈다.
