(서울=뉴스1) 박재하 기자 = '세계에서 가장 큰 개' 기록을 가진 '케빈'이 기네스 등재 약 2주 만에 사망했다.

25일(현지시간) USA 투데이에 따르면 기네스북(GWR)은 이날 케빈이 3살의 나이로 사망했다고 밝혔다.견주 측은 케빈이 갑작스러운 병으로 수술을 받고 사망했다고 전했다.

지난 13일 기네스에서 세계 최장신 개로 인정받은 케빈은 초대형견으로 유명한 그레이트 데인 품종으로,홀로라이브 야구높이(네 발에서 어깨까지의 길이)만 무려 0.97m다.

이전 기록도 제우스라는 이름의 그레이트 데인종이 보유하고 있었으며,홀로라이브 야구제우스의 높이는 1.046m였다.

한편 기네스는 "케빈이 예기치 않은 건강 문제로 갑자기 세상을 떠났다는 소식을 접하게 돼 매우 슬프게 생각한다"라며 "이 어려운 시기를 헤쳐 나가는 유족을 생각하며 응원한다"고 전했다.
