17일 오후 1시쯤 경북 상주시 청리면 SK머티리얼즈그룹포틴(주) 공장에서 가스보관 탱크에서 불이나 배관에서 노란색 연기가 뿜어져 나오고 있다는 주민신고가 119에 접수됐다.

상주시와 경찰을 비롯해 소방당국의 화학차량까지 긴급 출동하고 재난안전 문자를 시민들에게 보내는 등 한바탕 소동이 벌어졌다.

상주시와 소방당국,SK머티리얼즈그룹포틴측에 따르면 배관에서 발생한 노란색 연기는 '모노실란'이다.

모노실란은 규소 분말과 수소 등의 반응에 의해 생성되는 특수가스로 SK머티리얼즈그룹포틴이 생산하는 2차전지 소재 실리콘 음극재의 필수소재로 인체에는 유해한 것으로 알려졌다.

현장조사결과 모노실란 가스는 20여 분간 배출됐다.

상주시와 소방당국이 밝힌 배출원인은 실란을 보관하고 사용하는 탱크와 배관이 압력이 높아지면 폭발을 하는데,야구 타자 영어로설비보호와 압력을 떨어뜨리기 위해 일부 가스유출을 시켜주는 가압안전장치가 작동됐기 때문이라는 것이다.

이럴 경우 모노실란은 공기와 만나 전량 연소되면서 불꽃을 발생시킨다는 것.따라서 공장 외부로 유출됐을 가능성은 거의 없다는 것이다.

소방당국은 인명 및 재산피해는 없다고 밝히고 현재 SK측의 모노실란 보관량 및 배출량을 확인중이다.

한편 상주시와 소방당국은 신고 접수 1시간여 만에 안전조치를 완료하고 오후2시 20분쯤 상주시민들에게 재난문자를 발송했다.

내용은 '오늘 13시쯤 상주시 청리면 SK공장에 노란색 실란가스가 테스트 중 일부 외부 유출,13시20분쯤 상황종료,인근 주민은 접근을 자제하여주시기 바랍니다'로 돼 있다.
