전기가 흐르는 쇠꼬챙이 등을 이용해 개를 도살한 현장이 경기도에 또 적발됐다.

경기도 특별사법경찰단은 17일 화성시에서 개를 잔인하게 도살한 현장을 적발하고 수사에 착수했다고 밝혔다.

도 특사경은 민원 제보를 받아 관련 정보를 수집하고 잠복수사를 펼친 끝에 이날 도살 현장을 급습해 개 사체 6구를 확인했고,2024 프로야구 2차지명현장에서 케이지에 갇힌 채 발견된 살아있는 개 6두를 화성시에 보호 조치토록 했다.

특히 동물보호법 위반 혐의로 적발된 A씨는 살아있는 개 6두를 전기 쇠꼬챙이로 3~4초간 전기가 흐르게 해 죽게 하는 등 불법 도살을 한 것으로 확인됐다.

동물보호법에 따르면 잔인한 방법으로 동물을 죽음에 이르게 하는 행위에 대해 3년 이하 징역 또는 3000만원 이하 벌금에 처하도록 하고 있다.

홍은기 단장은 “동물 관련 불법행위 근절을 위해 지속적으로 수사할 계획이다”라며 “동물 관련 수사는 제보가 결정적 역할을 하는 만큼 사진이나 동영상 등 도민 여러분들의 적극적인 제보를 부탁드린다”고 밝혔다.

한편 도 특별사법경찰단은 동물을 잔인한 방법으로 죽음에 이르게 하는 행위뿐만 아니라 펫숍 등에서의 불법행위까지 단속을 확대할 예정이다.
