28일 대구소방안전본부 등에 따르면 이날 낮 12시43분께 동구 신천동의 지하 1층,카지노 조윤기지상 6층 규모의 복합건축물에 있는 2층 사무실에서 불이 나 26분만에 주불이 잡혔다.

이 불로 건물 내부에 갇혔던 시민 16명이 연기를 흡입해 인근 병원으로 옮겨졌다.화재 직후 스스로 대피한 26명 가운데 4명도 연기를 흡입해 현장에서 치료를 받았다.

소방당국은 계단 연기로 옥상에 대피했던 42명을 포함해 시민 46명을 화재 발생 1시간26분 만인 오후 2시9분께 모두 구조했다.

건물 내부에 갇혔던 시민은 72명으로 확인됐다.최초 화재가 발생했던 2층 사무실 내부에는 사람이 없어 인명피해는 없었다.

해당 건물은 1층 창고,카지노 조윤기2·3·4·6층 사무실,5층 사찰 등으로 활용 중인 것으로 파악됐다.
