전북의 한 야산에서 신체가 심하게 훼손된 시신이 발견돼 경찰이 수사에 나섰다.

13일 경찰 등에 따르면 전북 완주경찰서는 전날 오전 11시쯤 완주 상관면의 한 야산에서 "여기에 시신이 있는 것 같다"는 주민 신고를 접수했다.

신고를 받고 출동한 경찰은 현장에서 신체가 여러 곳으로 나뉘어져 있는 시신 한 구를 발견했다.

해당 시신은 남성으로 추정되며 부패가 상당히 진행된 상태인 것으로 알려졌다.

경찰은 강력범죄 등 여러 가능성을 염두에 두고 시신의 신원과 사망 원인을 조사 중이다.

경찰 관계자는 "얼마 전 현장 부근에 내린 폭우로 인해 주변 토사가 많이 무너진 상태"라며 "시신 훼손 상태도 심해 현재 정확한 사망 원인을 단정하기 어렵다"고 전했다.
