워싱턴 미 외교협회 세미나에 나온 커트 캠벨 미 국무부 부장관에게 푸틴 러시아 대통령과 김정은 북한 국무위원장의 회담 이후 한반도 정세를 묻는 질문이 이어졌습니다.

캠벨 부장관은 일단 현재의 억제력으로도 충분하다는 입장을 보였습니다.

워싱턴선언 이외의 추가적인 조처는 필요하지 않다는 답변입니다.

지난해 4월 한미 정상들은 미국이 한반도의 확장 억제를 강화하는 대신 한국은 자체 핵무장을 하지 않는다는 합의로 워싱턴 선언을 발표했습니다.

하지만 최근 북러가 밀착하면서 미국 보수진영에선 한국 핵무장에 대한 이야기가 나오고 있습니다.

상원 군사위원회 공화당 간사인 로저 위커 의원은 미국의 전술핵무기를 한국에 재배치하는 것을 검토해야 한다고 밝혔습니다.

트럼프 정부에서 국가안보회의 선임보좌관을 지낸 앨리슨 후커는 "한국이 자체 핵무장을 향해 계속 나아가고 있으며,플러스카지노심화되는 북러 관계가 더 그렇게 내몰고 있다"고 했습니다.
