(서울=연합뉴스) 김보경 기자 = KG모빌리티(KGM)는 프로젝트명 'J120'으로 개발해온 신형 쿠페형 스포츠유틸리티차(SUV) 차명을 '액티언'(ACTYON)으로 확정하고,사전 예약을 실시한다고 15일 밝혔다.

액티언이라는 차명은 KGM이 구 쌍용차 시절인 2005년 세계 최초로 개발했던 쿠페형 SUV(SUC)인 1세대 액티언으로부터 이어받았다.

1세대 액티언은 젊음을 상징하는 'Action'과 'Young'의 합성어였지만,비야레알 대 레알 소시에다드새롭게 선보이는 액티언은 여기에 더해 'Act'와 'On'이 합쳐졌다고 KGM은 설명했다.'젊게 행동하고 활동을 개시한다'는 뜻이다.

KGM은 액티언을 통해 70년간 이어졌던 SUV 제조사로서의 역량을 보인다는 각오다.

이날 공개된 액티언의 외관은 KGM의 디자인 철학인 '강인함으로 추진되는 디자인'(Powered by Toughness)에 따라 SUV의 단단함과 쿠페의 부드러움을 모두 담았다.

특히 측면부를 늘려 적재 공간을 최대화해 중형 SUV 수준의 실내 공간을 갖췄다고 KGM은 밝혔다.

액티언은 다음 달 출시 예정으로,이날부터 사전 예약에 들어간다.

구매를 원하는 고객은 전국 270여개 KGM 판매 대리점을 방문하거나 액티언 전용 온라인 사이트를 찾으면 된다.

KGM 관계자는 "쿠페형 SUV 출시의 출발점이 되었던 1세대 액티언의 서사를 연결해 SUV 제조 명문으로서의 자존심을 이어가겠다"고 말했다.
