(서울=연합뉴스) 안정훈 기자 = 가정불화로 이혼 후 노숙 생활을 이어가다 구청 단속에 화가 난다는 이유로 구 소유 창고에 불을 지른 베트남 이주여성에게 실형이 선고됐다

서울북부지법 형사합의11부 이동식 부장판사는 28일 공용건조물 방화 미수 등의 혐의로 기소된 현모(44)씨의 선고 공판에서 "범행 대상과 수법에 비춰 죄책이 가볍지 않다"며 징역 9개월을 선고했다.

현씨가 이전의 공무집행방해 범행으로 징역형을 선고받아 이미 집행유예 기간 중인 상황에서 다시 범죄를 저지른 것도 불리한 정상으로 고려돼 실형이 나왔다.

다만 이 판사는 "범행 경위에 다소 참작할만한 사정이 있어 보이고 공용건조물 방화 범행은 바로 진압돼 미수에 그쳤다"고 밝혔다.

그러면서 "피고인이 재범하지 않을 것을 다짐하면서 재활 의지를 보이고 있으므로 기본적인 생활 여건이 충족되면 건전한 사회인으로 거듭날 수 있을 것"이라고 했다.

현씨는 베트남에서 한국으로 결혼 이주했으나 시어머니와의 갈등 끝에 2016년에 이혼했다.이혼 후 기초생활수급자가 된 그는 고시원,개인 복권 디펜스 조합찜질방,개인 복권 디펜스 조합여성 노숙인 쉼터 등지를 2년여간 전전하다 2019년 중랑천변에서 텐트를 치고 노숙 생활을 시작했다.

구청의 지속적인 퇴거 요청에 불응하던 현씨는 3월 26일 중랑천 게이트볼 구장 인근의 구청 창고에 있던 기계를 부수고 불을 냈다.

그는 구청 측이 퇴거하라는 내용의 문서를 텐트에 붙이고 자신의 사진을 찍어서 화가 나 범행했다는 취지로 수사기관에 진술했다.
