경기도가 제79주년 광복절을 하루 앞둔 14일 도청 대강당에서 다큐멘터리 영화 '1923 간토 대학살' 시사회를 개최한다.

도는 국권회복의 의미를 되새기고 국민통합의 장이 되어야 할 광복절 기념식이 둘로 쪼개진 현실을 개탄하며 이번 '1923 간토대학살'(감독 김태영·최규석)의 특별초청시사회를 마련했다고 13일 밝혔다.

1923년 9월1일.간토대지진 직후의 혼란과 공포 속에 일본 정부가 조선인 대학살을 자행했다.

차별과 편견이,조선인이 폭동을 일으킬 것이라는 거짓 정보와 맞물려 어떻게 광기(狂氣)어린 폭력으로 이어졌는지를,유례를 찾기 힘든 '제노사이드(genocide)'로 번져갈 수 있는지를 보여준 대참사였다.

그러나 일본정부는 100년이 넘도록 간토대학살이라는 불편한 진실을 인정하지 않고 있다.

한 세기를 넘은 일본정부의 부정 속에,인천 대 광주그간 침묵해 온 진실을 깨우고 밝히려는 몸부림이 다큐멘터리 영화 '1923 간토대학살'이다.

배우 김의성씨가 나레이터를 맡은 이번 영화에서는 특히 간토대지진 후 중국에서 급파된,영국 함대 호킨스 기함의 조지 로스 장교가 찍은 것으로 추정되는 간토 학살 사진이 최초 공개된다.

이날 시사회에는 김동연 도지사가 참석한다.관람을 희망하는 도청 직원 누구나 영화를 볼 수 있다.

영화는 낮 3시부터 2시간 동안 상영되며,5시부터 약 30분 정도 '감독과의 대화' 시간이 이어진다.

김 지사는 "작금의 상황을 직시하며,의미 있는 광복절을 되찾으려는 노력의 하나로 '1923 간토대학살'의 경기도청 상영을 결정했다"고 밝혔다.

그러면서 "나라를 팔아치운 것이 매국,인천 대 광주둘로 쪼개는 것이 밀정,대학살을 알고도 침묵하는 것이 친일"이라면서 "역사를 잊은 민족에게 미래는 없다는 말을 정부는 엄중하게 되새겨야 한다"고 강조했다.
