현상금이 70억원대까지 올라갔다.영국 'BBC'는 블록체인 기술을 기반으로 한 '암호화폐' 중 하나인 '원코인' 설립자인 루자 이그나토바에 대한 형상금이 최대 500만 달러(약 69억2500만원)까지 올라갔다고 보도했다.

독일 국적인 이그나토바는‘암호화폐 여왕'(Crypto Queen)으로 불렸다.그는 세바스티안 그린우드와 함께 불가리아에 본사를 두고 회사를 만들었고 이후 아랍에미리트(UAE) 두바이에서 원코인을 발행했다.

그러나 해당 암호화폐는 폰지(다단계) 사기로 밝혀졌다.미국 시사 주간지 '타임'은 원코인에 대해 "역사상 가장 큰 사기"라고 보도하기도 했다.

이그나토바는 그린우드와 함께 회사 설립 후인 2014년부터 2016년까지 투자자 350만여 명을 대상으로 총액 40억 달러(약 5조4000억원)을 가져간 혐의를 받고 있다.금융 당국과 수사기관은 2017년부터 해당화폐에 대한 조사를 시작했고 2018년 태국 방콕에서 그린우드는 체포됐다.

하지만 이그나보타는 2017년 이후 소재가 파악되지 않고 있다.잠적한 그에게 미국 연방수사국(FBI)은 2022년 6월 그를 지명수배 명단에 처음 올렸다.

당시 현상금은 10만 달러였는데 2년 만에 50배 이상 올라갔다.FBI가 추적하고 있는 여성 용의자 중에선 최고액 현상금이다.

한편 그린우드는 지난해(2023년) 미국 지방법원으로부터 다단계 금융사기와 자금 세탁 혐의에 대해 유죄 평결을 내렸다.그린우드는 벌금 3억 달러와 함께 징역 20년 형을 선고받았다.

이그나토바의 동생으로 원코인사를 책임졌던 콘스탄틴도 2019년 6월 로스앤젤레스공항에서 체포됐다.그도 누나와 마찬가지로 폰지사기와 자금세탁 혐의로 기소됐다.BBC는 "콘스탄틴도 지난해(2023년) 해당 혐의를 인정했다"고 전했다.
