신고인의 진술에 의존해 섣불리 20대 남성을 성범죄자로 몰았다가 신고인이 허위 신고라고 털어놓은 뒤에야 해당 남성을 불입건 처리하는 등 부적절한 수사를 했다는 비판받고 있는 화성동탄경찰서에 대해 상급청이 동탄서가 담당했던 성범죄 사건에 대한 전수 조사에 나섰습니다.

경기남부경찰청은 동탄서 여성청소년과가 맡아 처리한 모든 사건에 대한 전수조사에 나서며 무리한 수사 관행이나 부적절한 언행이 있었는지 확인할 방침이라고 밝혔습니다.

여성청소년과는 성범죄와 청소년범죄를 수사하는 부서로,낚시 슬롯이번 사건과 같은 잘못이 다른 성범죄·청소년범죄 사건에도 있었는지 살펴보겠다는 것입니다.

또 경찰은 이번 사건 담당 수사관 등을 대상으로 진행 중인 감찰 조사의 결과에 따라 관련자들에게 상응한 조치를 할 예정입니다.

경찰은 "범죄 혐의가 확실하지 않은 상황에서 수사관의 부적절한 언행과 태도로 시민에게 상처를 줬던 점에 대해서 사과를 드린다"며 "신고인의 무고에 대해서는 엄정히 수사하겠다"다는 입장입니다.

이번 사건은 20대 남성 A 씨가 성범죄자로 몰렸다가 누명을 벗은 것으로,낚시 슬롯A 씨는 지난달 23일 자신이 사는 아파트의 헬스장 옆 관리사무소 건물 내 여자 화장실에서 50대 여성 B 씨가 용변을 보는 모습을 훔쳐보고 성적 행위를 했다는 누명을 썼습니다.

경찰은 B 씨의 112 신고를 접수한 뒤 수사하는 과정에서 A 씨에게 반말을 섞어가며 응대하고,낚시 슬롯사건 접수 여부 및 수사 진행 상황을 묻기 위해 경찰서를 방문한 A 씨에 대해 비협조적인 자세를 취하며 "떳떳하면 그냥 가만히 있으면 된다" 등의 발언도 했습니다.

A 씨는 '억울한 남자'라는 유튜브 채널에 이 과정 전반을 녹음해 둔 파일을 올렸고,이를 본 누리꾼들은 "무죄 추정의 원칙은 어디 갔나","신고한 여성의 말만 믿는가"라는 등 경찰에 대한 비난이 쏟아졌습니다.

이런 가운데 B 씨는 지난달 27일 "허위신고를 했다"고 자백했고,이에 경찰은 A 씨에 대해 입건 취소했습니다.

경찰은 B 씨를 무고 혐의로 입건했습니다.
