BBC 등 외신을 종합하면 패라지 대표는 4일(현지시간) 조기 총선 출마를 선언한 뒤 에섹스주클랙턴온시의 한 펍(선술집)을 나서다가 이런 봉변을 당했다.

제보 영상에 따르면 펍 앞에서 맥도날드 컵을 들고 기다리던 한 20대 여성은 계단을 내려오는 패라지 대표를 향해 음료를 끼얹었다.바나나 밀크셰이크로 추정되는 이 액체는 패라지 대표의 얼굴에 적중했고,닌텐도스위치야구게임이를 확인한 여성은 미소를 지으며 현장을 떠났다.

에식스 경찰은 이후 음료를 투척한 여성을 폭행 혐의로 체포했다.이 여성은 패라지 대표의 반대자로 추정된다.

패라지가 대표가 이런 봉변을 당한 건 이번이 처음은 아니다.지난 2019년에도 뉴캐슬에서 브렉시트 지지 연설을 한 뒤 퇴장하다 청중의 밀크셰이크 세례를 받은 바 있다.
