최근 국민권익위원회(권익위)가 윤석열 대통령 부인 김건희 여사의 명품 가방 수수 의혹을 종결 처리하자 이 결정에 반발한 권익위원 중 한 명이 책임을 느낀다며 사퇴 의사를 밝혔다.

권익위 비상임위원인 최정묵 위원은 18일 입장문을 통해 "법리적으로 충분히 다툼의 여지가 있었고,프로야구 모자 패치국민이 알고 있는 중요한 비리로 판단할 수 있는 문제가 혐의 없음으로 종결됐다"며 "종결 처리에 책임지고자 사퇴 의사를 전했다"고 밝혔다.

이어 "본 안건의 종결에 동의했던 위원들께도 위로를 전한다"며 "일부는 자신의 신념과 무관하게 결정할 수밖에 없었던 상황도 이해한다"고 했다.

그러면서 "진보와 보수를 불문하고,프로야구 모자 패치권익위 전체를 폄훼하지 말아달라"며 "구체적 사건과 행위를 비판해주시기 바란다"고 당부했다.

최 위원은 문재인 정부 당시 대통령직속 정책기획위원회 위원을 역임했다.

앞서 지난 10일 권익위는 김 여사가 명품 가방을 수수했다는 내용의 비위 신고 사건을 '위반 사항 없음'으로 종결 처리한 바 있다.

권익위는 "대통령과 이 사건 제공자에 대한 직무 관련성 여부를 논의한 결과 종결을 결정했다"고 설명했다.
