어제(24일) 20여 명의 사상자가 발생한 경기 화성시 소재 리튬 일차전지 제조업체 아리셀 공장 화재는 최초 폭발 이후 강한 화염과 함께 폭탄이 터지듯 연쇄적인 폭발이 계속 이어진 것으로 파악됐습니다.

이날 인터넷 커뮤니티 등에는 화재 초기 현장 상황이 담긴 10여 초가량의 영상이 빠르게 퍼졌습니다.

영상을 보면 불이 난 공장에서는 구름 같은 연기와 함께 창문마다 붉은 화염이 뿜어져 나옵니다.

이윽고 건물 2층과 1층을 중심으로 섬광탄이 터진 듯 하얀 불빛과 함께 폭발이 연쇄적으로 발생합니다.

잦을 때는 초당 10차례도 넘는 폭발음이 연쇄적으로 들리며 배터리 파편으로 추정되는 잔해물이 주변으로 튕겨 나옵니다.

드론으로 촬영된 또 다른 영상에서도 건물 2층을 중심으로 폭발에 의한 것으로 보이는 섬광이 수십 차례 계속 이어지는 장면이 보입니다.

한참 떨어진 드론에서도 선명하게 촬영될 정도로 폭발 규모도 적지 않았습니다.

소방대원들이 일정 거리를 두고 떨어진 채 상황을 지켜보고 있는 모습도 찍혔습니다.

일부 파편이 소방대원 근처까지 튕겨 나오는 아찔한 장면도 보였습니다.

소방당국 관계자는 "선착대 도착 당시 내부에 있던 배터리 셀이 연속 폭발하며 급격히 불이 번져 진화에 어려움이 있었다"고 말했습니다.
