KGM은 지난 3일 KG타워에서 포니AI·포니링크와 자율주행 기술협력 업무협약(MOU)을 맺었다.체결식에는 KGM 곽재선 회장과 황기영 대표이사,18 19 프리미어리그KG ICT 이상준 대표이사,포니AI 제임스 펑 회장,18 19 프리미어리그포니링크 남경필 회장을 비롯한 관계자들이 참석했다.

KGM은 이번 MOU 체결로 KGM이 보유하고 있는 자율주행시스템과 포니AI의 기술을 접목해 자율주행차를 개발할 계획이다.포니링크와는 택시·버스 등 자율주행차 관련 다양한 사업을 협력하게 된다.

포니AI는 인공지능과 빅데이터,맵핑 시스템 등 주요 핵심기술을 기반으로 자율주행차 개발과 함께 로보택시와 로보트럭 등의 운송 서비스를 제공하는 기술 기업이다.포니링크는 통합 관제센터 구축 기술과 이동통신 코어망 기술,18 19 프리미어리그커넥티드카 기반 기술 등을 보유하고 있다.

곽재선 KGM 회장은 “KGM은 이번 MOU 체결을 통해 자율주행차 플랫폼 개발을 위한 제어기 공동 개발과 함께 운전자 주행 보조 시스템과 자율주행 시스템 등의 개발을 위해 상호 협력해 나갈 계획”이라고 말했다.

아울러 “앞으로도 스포츠유틸리티차량(SUV) 전기차와 고성능 하이브리드 SUV 등 친환경차 풀 라인업 완성과 자율주행 기술 고도화는 물론 차별화된 통합 모빌리티 서비스 제공을 통해 고객들의 가치 있는 삶을 지원하는 기업으로 성장 발전해 나갈 것”이라고 덧붙였다.

한편 KGM은 지난해 10월 자율주행 소프트웨어사 오토노머스에이투지(AUTONOMOUS a2z)와 자율주행 시스템 개발 협력과 자율주행 차량 제조를 위한 MOU를 체결한 바 있다.KGM은 앞으로도 다양한 분야의 자율주행 핵심기술 업체들과의 협력을 토대로 자율주행기술 완성도를 높여나간다는 전략이다.
