전신 85% 화상 치료 중 46일 만에 숨져…4명도 치료 중

(전주=연합뉴스) 정경재 기자 = 전주 리사이클링타운 폭발 사고로 화상을 입어 병원에서 치료받던 A(48)씨가 18일 사망했다.

사고 난 지 46일 만이다.

전북경찰청에 따르면 A씨는 사고 당시 전신 85%에 화상을 입어 충북 오송의 한 병원에서 치료받았으나 최근 상태가 악화해 이날 오전 끝내 숨졌다.

경찰은 유족과 협의해 정확한 사망 원인을 가리기 위한 부검 절차를 진행할 예정이다.

A씨를 제외한 나머지 4명도 계속 치료 중이다.

리사이클링타운에서는 지난달 2일 오후 6시 42분께 가스 폭발 사고가 발생해 A씨를 포함한 근로자 5명이 2∼3도 화상을 입었다.

국립과학수사연구원 정밀 감식 결과 사고 현장에서는 폭발성 물질인 메탄이 추출됐다.

전주시가 2016년 수익형 민간투자(BTO) 방식으로 세운 리사이클링타운은 음식물 쓰레기와 하수 찌꺼기,러시아 월드컵 스페인재활용 쓰레기 등 폐기물(일일 300t)을 처리한다.

태영건설·한백종합건설·에코비트워터·성우건설 등 4개 건설사가 합자한 전주리싸이클링에너지가 2036년까지 20년간 관리·운영권을 갖고 있다.

고용노동부 전주지청은 지난 7일 운영사의 안전·보건 이행 조치를 확인하고 리사이클링타운에 내린 부분 작업 중지 명령을 해제했다.
