中외교부,대 중국 강경파 밴스 공화당 부통령 후보 인터뷰 발언 반박

(베이징=연합뉴스) 정성조 특파원 = 미국 공화당 대선 후보 도널드 트럼프 전 대통령이 지명해 당 부통령 후보로 공식 선출된 J.D.밴스 상원의원이 중국을 가리켜 "미국 최대의 위협"이라고 언급하자 중국 정부가 반발했다.

린젠 중국 외교부 대변인은 16일 정례 브리핑에서 "트럼프 후보의 부통령 지명자 밴스가 오늘 아침 중국을 '미국 최대의 위협'이라고 언급했는데 어떤 입장인가"라는 질문에 "우리는 줄곧 미국 대선이 중국을 구실로 삼는 것에 반대해왔다"고 답했다.

AP통신 영상 계열사 APTN에 따르면 앞서 밴스 의원은 15일(현지시간) 미국 폭스뉴스에 출연해 "트럼프가 대통령이었다면 러시아는 우크라이나를 침공하지 않았을 것"이라며 "나는 트럼프 대통령이 약속한 바는 그곳에 가서 러시아인·우크라이나인과 협상해 이것(전쟁)을 신속히 종결함으로써 미국이 진짜 문제,로또럭키이즈중국에 집중할 수 있게 하는 것이라고 생각한다"고 말했다.

밴스 의원은 그러면서 "그것(중국)은 우리나라(미국) 최대의 위협"이라고 덧붙였다.

15일 미 공화당 전당대회를 통해 부통령 후보로 선출된 39세의 밴스 의원은 낙태와 이민,로또럭키이즈중동 문제 등 각종 현안에서 트럼프 전 대통령 및 공화당 강경 보수파와 동일한 목소리를 내온 인물로 꼽힌다.

대(對)중국 강경파로 알려진 그는 중국산 제품에 고율 관세를 물리려는 트럼프 전 대통령 구상이 미국 물가를 자극할 수 있다는 지적에 대해 미국 내에서 더 많은 미국제 상품이 제조될 것이라며 반론을 펼친 바 있다.
