이원석 검찰총장 후임 인선 절차가 본격적으로 시작됐습니다.

법무부는 검찰총장 후보자 추천을 위해 총장 후보추천위원회를 구성했다고 밝혔습니다.

이 총장의 임기가 오는 9월 15일 만료되는 데 따른 것입니다.

추천위원장은 정상명 전 검찰총장이 맡았습니다.

당연직 위원은 배형원 법원행정처 차장,김영훈 대한변호사협회장,유에파 챔피언스리그조홍식 한국법학교수회 회장,유에파 챔피언스리그이상경 법학전문대학원협의회 이사장,송강 법무부 검찰국장입니다.

비당연직 위원은 정 전 총장 외에 이진기 성균관대학교 법학전문대학원 교수,안수현 한국외국어대학교 법학전문대학원장,김세동 문화일보 논설위원이 위촉됐습니다.

법무부는 오는 8일부터 15일까지 총장으로 적합한 인물을 국민에게 천거 받을 예정입니다.

법무부 장관은 총장 후보자 천거 상황 등을 참고해 제청 대상자로 적합하다고 생각되는 사람을 추천위에 심사 대상자로 제시하게 됩니다.

이후 추천위는 적격 여부를 심사해 장관에게 후보자로 3명 이상을 추천하고,장관은 추천위 추천 내용을 존중해 총장 후보자를 제청할 예정입니다.
