(파리=연합뉴스) 송진원 특파원 = 프랑스 북서부 루앙의 랜드마크인 중세 대성당 첨탑에 11일(현지시간) 불이 나 소방 당국이 긴급히 진화했다.

일간 르몽드에 따르면 이날 정오께 루앙 대성당의 첨탑에서 원인을 알 수 없는 불이 나 1시간 30여분 만에 진화됐다.

151ｍ 높이의 첨탑은 보수공사가 진행 중이었다.첨탑이 주철 구조물이어서 다행히 화재가 성당 다른 곳으로 번지지는 않았다.

12세기에 지어지기 시작한 루앙 대성당은 고딕 양식의 걸작으로 꼽힌다.

프랑스에서 가장 높은 성당이며 유럽에서도 첨탑 높이로 몇 손가락 안에 꼽힌다.

이번에 불이 난 첨탑은 1822년 화재로 소실된 이전 첨탑을 대체한 것으로 1876년 완공됐다.

루앙 대성당은 프랑스 인상파 화가 클로드 모네가 빛과 색의 변화를 연구한 대상이기도 하다.그는 루앙 대성당 맞은 편에 스튜디오를 구해 시간에 따라 해가 비친 모습을 포착해 연작을 남겼다.
