기아의 첫 정통 픽업‘더 기아 타스만’의 전용 위장막(카모플라주) 모델 실물이 27일 부산 벡스코에서 열린‘2024 부산모빌리티쇼’에서 국내 최초로 공개됐다.호주의 야생적인 풍경을 표현한 위장막 디자인이 눈길을 끌었다.기아는 내년부터 국내를 비롯한 글로벌 시장에‘더 기아 타스만’을 차례로 선보인다는 계획이다.

타스만은 기아의 첫 번째 정통 픽업트럭이다.1970년대 생산된‘브리사’가 먼저 만들어지긴 했으나 일본 마쓰다 기술을 기반으로 제작됐다.기아 독자 기술로 만든 픽업트럭은 타스만이 처음인 셈이다.

기아는 전시관 중앙에 타스만 히어로 스테이지를 꾸렸다.절제된 형태의 무대 디자인으로 타스만에 대한 몰입도를 높였다.올해 초까지‘TK1 프로젝트’로 알려졌던 타스만은 지난 4월 온라인 티저 영상에서 처음 이름이 밝혀졌다‘더 기아 타스만’의 차명은‘영감의 섬’으로 불리는 호주 최남단에 위치한 타스마니아와 타스만 해협에서 유래했다.

기아는 이날 미래 핵심 사업인‘PBV(Platform Beyond Vehicle) 콘셉트’실물도 공개했다.기아는 올해 세계 최대 가전 박람회인‘CES 2024’에서 전용 PBV 모델이자 PBV 라인업의 기반이 되는‘PV5’와 소형 PBV‘PV1,축구 승무패 분석법대형 PBV‘PV7’등 총 3종의 콘셉트 실물을 공개했었다.PV5는 내년 출시 예정이다.

전기차 대중화를 위한 기아의 의지와 역할을 전하기 위해 부산모빌리티쇼 전시관 전면에 EV3를 배치했다.EV3 특화 공간인‘EV3 존(Zone)’을 조성해 몰입감을 높였다.기아 커넥트 스토어를 통해 구매할 수 있는 미국 프로농구(NBA) 구단별 디스플레이 테마 디자인도 소개한다.

정원정 기아 국내사업본부장(부사장)은 “기아의 모든 움직임은 지속가능성과 차별화된 고객 경험을 제공하기 위한 것”이라며 “전용 EV를 비롯해 더 기아 타스만과 PBV 등 고객의 다양한 라이프 스타일과 비즈니스를 고려한 차종 개발 노력에 최선을 다해 모빌리티의 새로운 미래를 개척해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
