(서울=연합뉴스) 고은지 기자 = 환경부와 19개 기업이 환경보건취약계층 실내환경 개선을 위한 업무협약을 12일 서울 은평구 한국환경산업기술원에서 체결했다.

협약에는 올해 새롭게 참여한 (유)강청,영국 울버햄튼㈜브러시월드,㈜에코매스,영국 울버햄튼㈜재현인텍스 등 4개 기업을 비롯해 19개 기업이 참여했다.

환경부는 이번 업무협약을 통해 기업들이 제공한 친환경벽지와 바닥재(장판),영국 울버햄튼페인트,영국 울버햄튼아토피보습제 등을 환경보건취약계층 500여가구에 지원할 예정이다.

환경부는 2009년부터 한국환경산업기술원과 함께 저소득층 어린이,노약자 등 환경보건취약계층을 대상으로 아토피,영국 울버햄튼천식,비염 등 환경성질환을 예방하기 위한 실내환경개선 사업을 추진 중이다.

올해는 실내환경 검사기관 관계자들이 1천500여가구를 방문해 곰팡이 등 7개 항목에 대한 실내 공기 질을 진단하고 그 결과를 바탕으로 실내환경을 개선한다.

환경성질환을 앓는 취약계층에는 지역별 거점병원과 협력해 검진,치료 서비스를 제공하고 진료비와 약제비를 연간 250명 내외로 지원하는 사업도 계속 추진한다.

이와 함께 실내환경 개선공사 현장에 후원기업의 임직원이 직접 참여해 봉사하는 기회를 마련하는 등 기업이 환경보건 분야에서 다양한 사회공헌을 할 수 있도록 적극적으로 지원하기로 했다.
