지적장애를 가진 직원을 심리적으로 지배해 재개발 관련 분쟁 상대인 80대 건물주를 살해하도록 교사한 모텔 주인이 1심에서 중형을 선고받았다.

서울남부지법 제15형사부(부장판사 양환승)는 9일 살인 교사 혐의로 구속 기소된 조 모 씨(45)에게 징역 27년을 선고했다.

재판부는 "피고인은 자신을 절대적으로 신뢰하고 의지하는 주차관리원 김 모 씨(32)의 지적 장애를 이용해 상당 기간에 걸쳐 피해자에 대한 적대감을 심은 뒤 살해에 이르게 했다"고 지적했다.

이어 "상당히 치밀하고 계획적으로 범행을 준비했고,야구 벤클이후에 CC(폐쇄회로)TV를 포맷하고 증거를 인멸하는 등 범행 후 정황도 좋지 않다"며 "수사 중 수차례 거짓말을 하고 이 법정에서도 시종일관 태연한 표정을 유지하며 납득하기 힘든 주장을 지속했다"고 덧붙였다.

앞서 조 씨는 2022년 9월부터 영등포 재개발 문제 관련 80대 건물주 유 모 씨와 갈등을 겪다 주차관리원 김 씨에게 살해하라고 지시한 혐의로 올해 1월11일 구속기소 됐다.

살인 혐의로 구속 기소된 김 씨는 앞서 지난달 4일 1심에서 징역 15년을 선고받았다.김 씨와 검찰이 모두 항소를 제기해 현재 2심이 진행 중이다.

검찰에 따르면 조 씨는 가족의 버림을 받고 떠돌아다니던 김 씨를 데려와 "나는 네 아빠,야구 벤클형으로서 너를 위하는 사람"이라고 가스라이팅하며 심리적으로 지배했다고 알려졌다.또한 김 씨가 유 씨에게 적대감을 갖도록 "너를 욕했다"며 이간질했다고도 전해졌다.
