(서울=연합뉴스) 김주환 기자 = 넥슨이 2022년부터 개발해온 블록체인 게임 '메이플스토리N' 테스터를 모집하면서 정식 출시에 속도를 내고 있다.

4일 게임 업계에 따르면 넥스페이스는 지난 1일부터 '메이플스토리 유니버스' 공식 홈페이지를 통해 '메이플스토리N' 파이오니어 테스터 모집을 시작했다.

넥스페이스는 넥슨의 블록체인 게임 계열사 넥슨유니버스가 지난해 아랍에미리트(UAE)에 세운 자회사로,2024 kbo 올스타 브레이크'메이플스토리' IP(지식재산)를 활용한 웹3 게임 프로젝트 '메이플스토리 유니버스'를 운영하고 있다.

이번에 테스트 예정인 '메이플스토리N'은 '메이플스토리 유니버스'의 핵심 게임으로,2024 kbo 올스타 브레이크플레이를 통해 얻은 아이템을 대체불가토큰(NFT)으로 만들어 이용자간에 자유롭게 거래할 수 있는 게임이다.

넥슨은 '메이플스토리 유니버스' 운영을 위해 올해 초 블록체인 메인넷 아발란체(AVAX)에 기반한 서브넷을 채택한 것으로 전해졌다.

운영진은 지난달 '메이플스토리 유니버스' 공식 디스코드(Discord) 채널을 열고 메이플스토리N 정보를 공개하고 있다.이 디스코드 채널의 이용자 수는 전날 10만 명을 넘었다.

다만 블록체인 게임 영업이 불가능한 국내에서 '메이플스토리N' 홈페이지 접근은 불가능하다.국내 서비스 계획도 현재로서는 없다.
