(워싱턴=연합뉴스) 조준형 특파원 = 미국이 우크라이나에 23억 달러(약 3조2천억원) 규모의 추가 안보 지원을 할 것이라고 로이드 오스틴 미 국방장관이 2일(현지시간) 밝혔다.

AP통신에 따르면 오스틴 장관은 이날 워싱턴에서 루스템 우메로프 우크라이나 국방장관과 개최한 회담에서 곧 이 같은 규모의 추가 지원을 발표할 것이라고 말했다.

이번 지원에는 대(對)전차 무기와 대공 방어 무기 등이 포함된다고 AP통신은 전했다.

우크라이나에 대한 미국의 추가 지원 언급은 오는 9∼11일 워싱턴 D.C.에서 열리는 북대서양조약기구(NATO·나토) 정상회의를 앞두고 나왔다.

이번 23억 달러까지 포함하면 2022년 2월 러시아의 우크라이나 침공 이후 미국의 대(對)우크라이나 안보 지원 규모(미측의 사전 발표액 기준)는 535억 달러(약 74조원)에 이르게 된다.

오스틴 장관은 이날 회담 모두발언을 통해 "우크라이나는 혼자가 아니며 미국은 결코 지원을 중단하지 않을 것"이라고 말했다.

그는 또 "우크라이나의 북대서양조약기구(NATO·나토) 가입에 다리를 놓기 위해 조처를 취할 것"이라고 강조했다.
