27일(현지시각) 이스라엘 일간 타임오브이스라엘에 따르면 토니 블링컨 미 국무장관은 이날 발표한 성명에서 "미국은 핵 위협 고조와 관련해 이란에 대한 새로운 제재를 가한다"고 밝혔다.

블링컨 국무장관은 "지난 한 달간 이란은 평화적 목적과는 무관한 핵 프로그램을 더욱 확대하는 조치를 발표했다"고 지적했다.

이어 "우리는 이란이 핵무기를 손에 넣는 것을 절대 허용하지 않을 것이며 이를 위해 국력의 모든 요소를 사용할 준비가 돼 있다"고 강조했다.

미국은 이번 조치를 통해 이란산 석유 또는 석유 화학 제품을 운송한 혐의를 받는 아랍에미리트(UAE) 기업 3곳과 선박 11척을 제재한다.

앞서 주요 7개국(G7)은 성명에서 이란이 핵농축 프로그램을 진전시키지 말 것을 경고하면서 이란이 탄도미사일을 러시아에 지원할 경우 새로운 조치를 시행할 준비가 돼 있다고 밝혔다.

나세르 카나니 이란 외무부 대변인은 "G7은 과거의 파괴적인 정책과 거리를 둬야 한다"고 비판했다.

국제원자력기구(IAEA)는 이란이 순도 60%까지 우라늄을 농축하고 있다며 추가 농축 시 핵무기 3개를 제조할 수 있는 충분한 물질을 보유하고 있다고 밝혔다.핵무기를 생산하려면 우라늄을 90%까지 농축해야 한다.
