(세종=연합뉴스) 한종구 기자 = 더불어민주당 소속 세종시의회 의원들이 친일 역사관 논란을 빚고 있는 김형석 독립기념관장에 대한 임명 철회를 촉구하고 나섰다.

민주당 시의원들은 광복절인 15일 오전 세종시청 정문 앞에서 입장문 발표회를 열고 "독립운동을 모독하고 나라의 정체성을 훼손하는 김형석 고신대 석좌교수의 독립기념관장 임명을 즉각 철회하라"고 주장했다.

의원들은 "윤석열 대통령이 김형석 교수를 독립기념관장에 임명하는 것은 친일 반민족 행위자들의 만행을 돕고 독립운동의 역사를 지우는 행위에 동조하는 것"이라고 비판했다.

이어 "독립기념관은 민족문화의 정체성을 확립하고 국민의 투철한 민족정신을 북돋우며 올바른 국가관을 정립하기 위해 설치한 곳"이라며 "독립운동의 역사를 훼손하는 뉴라이트 성향 김형석 교수의 독립기념관장 임명을 즉각 철회하기를 바란다"고 강조했다.
