담배꽁초를 버려 제과 공장에 화재를 일으킨 혐의로 60대 남성이 벌금형이 처했다.

15일 뉴스1에 따르면 대전지법 천안지원 형사4단독 김병휘 부장판사는 실화 혐의로 재판에 넘겨진 A씨(64)에게 벌금 1000만원을 선고했다.

대기업 하청업체에서 근무하던 A씨는 2021년 3월 충남 천안시 소재 또다른 대기업 제과 공장에서 담배꽁초를 버려 화재를 유발한 혐의로 기소됐다.

A씨가 불을 완전히 끄지 않은 담배꽁초를 팔레트 위에 버려 불씨가 주변에 옮겨 붙은 것으로 조사됐다.이 불은 물류창고와 보관 중이던 제과 완제품,그루지 2020 정보기계 설비,그루지 2020 정보차량 등을 태우고 10시간여 만에 꺼졌다.이로 인해 38억2718만원의 재산 피해가 발생했다.

A씨는 담배꽁초만으로 화재가 발생할 수 없다면서 화재 원인을 단정할 수 없다고 주장했다.

그러나 법원은 CCTV 영상 등을 토대로 A씨가 담뱃불을 제대로 끄지 않아 화재가 발생했다는 점을 인정할 수 있다고 봤다.

김 부장판사는 "당시 찍힌 CCTV 영상을 보면 A씨가 자리를 이탈하기 전 팔레트 더미 윗 부분에서 불빛이 나왔다"고 했다.
