당시 '타살이 의심된다'는 국립과학수사연구원의 부검 결과와 사건 목격자까지 있었는데도 경찰의 부실 수사로 진실이 가려졌다.

2일 청주 청원경찰서 등에 따르면 지난 2022년 6월 3일 낮 12시 50분쯤 충북 청주시 사직동의 한 주택에서 "자고 일어나니 동생이 죽어있다"는 친형 A(60) 씨의 신고가 접수됐다.

경찰이 현장에 도착했을 당시 동생 B (59) 씨는 복부와 가슴에 피멍이 든 채 숨져 있었다.

당시 경찰은 B 씨가 외력에 의한 장기 파열과 뇌출혈로 숨졌고 타살이 의심된다는 국립과학수사연구원 부검 결과를 토대로 A 씨를 상해치사 혐의로 입건해 조사했다.

다만 A 씨는 혐의를 전면 부인하고 있는 것으로 알려졌다.

경찰 관계자는 "A 씨는 혐의를 부인하고 있지만 직접 목격자의 결정적 증언이 있는 만큼 혐의 입증에 최선을 다할 계획"이라며 "이번 사건 초기 수사에 미진함은 없었는지 수사 감찰도 진행한다"고 말했다.
