(타이베이=연합뉴스) 김철문 통신원 = 중국 군용기의 연이은 대만 방공식별구역(ADIZ) 진입으로 양안(兩岸·중국과 대만)간 군사적 긴장이 고조되는 가운데 대만이 구매하는 미국산 F-16V 전투기에 차세대 전자전 장비가 장착된다.

4일 왕보,복권판매점자유시보 등 대만언론에 따르면 미 국방부는 2일(현지시간) 홈페이지를 통해 미 국방부와 록히드마틴 간의 대외군사판매(FMS)를 위한 F-16V 블록 70/72 전투기 관련 계약이 수정 체결됐다면서 이같이 밝혔다.

미 국방부는 대만,복권판매점불가리아,슬로바키아 등을 위한 F-16V 전투기용 차세대 전자전 장비가 텍사스주 포트워스 록히드마틴 공장에서 생산되며 2028년 6월까지 인도된다면서 "계약 규모는 5억2천40만달러(약 7천190억원)"라고 말했다.

F-16V 전용 해당 시스템에는 최신 AN/APG-83형 AESA(능동주사식 위상배열)와 연결할 수 있는 디지털 레이더 경보 수신기가 탑재돼 보다 넓은 범위의 적 위협에 대한 경보를 통해 조종사 대응 시간 확보에 도움이 된다고 대만언론은 전했다.

F-16 최신 버전인 F-16V는 20개 이상의 표적을 추적할 수 있고 다양한 첨단 공대공·공대지·공대함 무기도 장착할 수 있다.

대만 공군은 기존 보유 중인 F-16A/B 140대를 F-16V로 업그레이드하는 사업을 지난해 완료한 가운데 동시에 미국으로부터 새로 제작하는 F-16V 66대를 도입하는 계획도 추진 중이다.

대만은 F-16V 66대가 모두 인도되면 전체 F-16V 전투기가 200여 대로 늘어나 수시로 대만 ADIZ과 대만해협을 침범하는 중국 군용기에 효과적으로 대응할 수 있을 것으로 본다.

한편,대만 국방부는 전날 오전 6시부터 24시간 동안 대만 주변 공역과 해역에서 중국군 군용기 30대와 군함 8척을 각각 포착했으며 이 가운데 군용기 19대가 대만해협 중간선을 넘어 북부,복권판매점중부,복권판매점서남 및 동남 공역에 나타났다고 밝혔다.
