유로파이터 타보는 올라프 숄츠 독일 총리

(베를린=연합뉴스) 김계연 특파원 = 올라프 숄츠 독일 총리가 연방군 주력 전투기 유로파이터 20대를 추가 구매하겠다고 밝혔다.

블룸버그통신 등 외신에 따르면 숄츠 총리는 5일(현지시간) 베를린에서 개막한 국제항공우주박람회(ILA)에 참석해 내년 10월까지인 이번 연방의회 회기 안에 유로파이터를 더 주문하겠다고 밝혔다.

계획대로 20대를 구매하면 유지보수 비용을 포함해 약 40억유로(약 6조원)가 들 것이라고 블룸버그통신은 전망했다.

숄츠 총리는 방위산업과 관련해 "생산능력을 유지·확장하는 데 강력히 찬성한다"며 유로파이터 수출 기회를 위해 연방정부가 노력하겠다고 말했다.

유로파이터는 독일·스페인·영국·이탈리아 등 4개국이 공동 개발하는 전투기다.독일 공군은 현재 유로파이터 138대를 운용한다.

독일 정부는 앞서 2020년 구형 기종 교체를 위해 38대를 주문했고 내년부터 인도받을 예정이다.

독일은 2022년 2월 우크라이나 전쟁 발발 직후 재무장을 선언하고 군비 증강에 나섰다.

보리스 피스토리우스 국방장관은 지난 3일 호위함 '니더작센' 기공식에서 "4척 아닌 6척이 필요하다"며 추가 계약 의사를 밝혔다.

독일 정부는 2020년 네덜란드 조선업체 다멘 등이 참여한 컨소시엄과 1만550t급 차세대 호위함인 F126 4척 건조 계약을 체결하고 2척을 옵션으로 걸어뒀다.가격은 1척에 15억유로(약 2조2천억원) 안팎이다.
