(서울=뉴스1) 김예슬 기자 = 태국 헌법재판소가 14일(현지시간) 세타 타위신 총리에 대한 해임 청원을 받아들였다.

이날 타이랏 등 태국 현지 매체에 따르면 태국 헌재는 "세타 총리가 윤리 규칙을 심각하게 위반했다"며 5대 4로 세타 총리를 해임해야 한다고 판결했다.

세타 총리는 과거 뇌물 공여 시도와 법정 모독죄로 징역형을 받았던 전직 변호사 피찟 추엔반을 총리실 장관직에 임명해 논란을 일으켰다.

이에 40명의 보수파 상원의원은 피찟 장관의 임명이 윤리적 기준을 위반하고 헌법에 어긋난다며 세타 총리와 피찟 장관을 해임해달라고 헌재에 청원했다.

피찟 장관은 이 문제로 사임했고 세타 총리는 자신의 무죄를 주장했으나,2024 프로야구 신인 2차 지명회의헌재는 "세타 총리가 피찟 장관의 이력과 금지된 자격을 알고 있어야 한다"고 봤다.

세타 총리가 유죄 판결을 받음에 따라 태국 정치권은 또다시 혼란 속으로 빨려들 전망이다.
