이름과 국적을 바꿔 신분 세탁을 하고 수익을 은닉한 탈세 혐의자들에 대해 국세청이 고강도 세무조사에 착수했습니다.

세법 전문가의 도움을 받고 가상자산 같은 첨단 기술을 동원하는 등 탈세 수법도 점차 고도화되고 있습니다.

손서영 기자의 보도입니다.

[리포트]

세금을 내지 않기 위해 갖가지 방법으로 수익을 숨겨온 역외 탈세 혐의자 41명이 국세청에 적발됐습니다.

국내에 거주하는 한 사업가는 국세청의 소득 추적을 피하기 위해 국적을 바꿨습니다.

투자하면 시민권을 주는 조세회피처의 이른바 '황금비자'를 활용했습니다.

국내에 외국인으로 드나들며 세금 한 푼 내지 않고 호화 생활을 이어갔습니다.

동남아 등 해외 원정 진료를 통해 벌어들인 돈을 가상자산으로 받아 숨겨 온 성형외과·피부과 의사들도 덜미가 잡혔습니다.

이들은 가상자산을 국내 거래소에 매각한 뒤 외국인 차명계좌를 통해 현금으로 받아 찾아가는 방식을 이용했습니다.

거래를 추적하기 어려운 가상자산을 탈세에 활용하는 사례는 또 있었습니다.

직접 가상자산을 개발하는 업체가 해외에서 일을 한 뒤 대가를 가상자산으로 받아 빼돌렸다가 조사 대상에 오르기도 했습니다.

[정재수/국세청 조사국장 : "일반적으로 외환거래를 통하면 저희가 과세 포착이 되는데 가상자산으로 거래하게 되면 저희가 포착하기가 어렵기 때문에 그런 점을 악용하는 것 같습니다."]

국세청은 법망을 피하려고 전문가 도움을 받거나 첨단 기술을 동원해 수익을 은닉하는 등 최근 역외탈세 수법이 지능화되고 있다고 밝혔습니다.

그러면서 이번에 적발된 혐의자에 대해 강도 높은 세무조사를 진행하겠다고 예고했습니다.
