제자인 여학생에게 부적절한 편지를 보낸 사실이 알려지면서 논란을 산 박정현 한국교원단체총연합회(교총) 신임 회장이 자진 사퇴했습니다.

박 신임 회장은 27일 교총을 통해 낸 입장문에서 "교총의 모든 선생님께 깊이 사죄하고 모든 책임을 통감한다"며 사퇴 의사를 밝혔습니다.

이어 "제 지난 과오와 실수로 교총과 회원님,정현수 야구그리고 전국의 선생님들께 심려를 끼치고 명예에 누를 끼친 데 대해 깊이 사죄드린다"라고 덧붙였습니다.

앞서 박 신임 회장은 지난 2013년 인천의 한 고등학교 3학년 담임으로 재직하던 당시,정현수 야구여학생에게 부적절한 편지를 보낸 사실이 확인돼 징계위원회에서 '견책' 조치를 받았습니다.

당시 박 신임 회장이 보낸 편지에는 특정 학생에게 '자기'라고 부르며 '어제보다 오늘 더 사랑한다',정현수 야구'당장이라도 안아주고 싶다',정현수 야구'보고 싶은 마음을 억누를 수 없다' 등의 내용이 적혀 있던 것으로 알려졌습니다.

편지 내용이 알려지면서 교총 홈페이지 게시판에는 사퇴를 촉구하는 글이 잇따라 게시됐습니다.

교총은 박 회장이 사퇴 의사를 밝힘에 따라 차기 회장단이 선출될 때까지 문태혁 수석부회장 직무대행 체제로 운영할 계획입니다.
