(예산=연합뉴스) 강수환 기자 = 실선에서 차로 변경하는 차를 대상으로 고의로 교통사고를 내고 수천만원을 가져간 보험사기단이 검찰로 넘겨졌다.

충남경찰청은 보험사기방지특별법 위반 혐의로 A(20대)씨 등 2명을 불구속 송치했다고 28일 밝혔다.

A씨는 지난 2020년 2월부터 지난해까지 약 4년간 충남 당진시 일대에서 백색 실선에서 차로 변경하는 차량을 노려 고의로 부딪힌 뒤 7차례에 걸쳐 보험사로부터 합의금 등 명목으로 4천700만원의 보험금을 타낸 혐의를 받는다.

이들은 백색 실선에서 차로 변경할 경우 교통사고 과실이 차로 변경 차량에 대부분 100% 잡히는 점을 노리고 범행한 것으로 조사됐다.

이전에도 보험사기 전력이 있던 이들은 범행을 계속 부인하고 있는 것으로 알려졌다.

경찰 관계자는 "보험사기 표적이 되지 않도록 평소 교통법규를 잘 지키는 습관을 지녀야 한다"면서 "차로 변경할 때는 진행차가 있는지 잘 살피고 미리 방향 지시등을 작동시키는 등 안전 운전을 해야 한다"고 당부했다.
