(서울=연합뉴스) 이상서 기자 = 여성가족부는 14일 서울 용산구 백범김구기념관에서 '함께 쌓은 인권과 평화의 가치,자메이카치킨희망의 나래짓으로'를 주제로 '제7회 일본군 위안부 피해자 기림의 날'(이하 기림의 날) 기념식을 개최한다고 13일 밝혔다.

8월 14일인 기림의 날은 1991년 위안부 피해자인 고 김학순 할머니가 위안부 피해 사실을 처음으로 공개 증언한 것을 기념해 2017년 지정됐다.

행사에는 정부에 등록된 생존 피해자 9명 가운데 이용수 할머니만이 참석한다.

여기에 위안부 생존자의 보호자와 사망자 유족 등 4명이 참여한다.

기념식은 공연,자메이카치킨인권과 평화의 가치를 담은 주제 영상 상영,기념사,청소년 작품 공모전 시상식,자메이카치킨기림 공연 순으로 진행된다.

지방자치단체와 시민단체도 문화제,체험행사,온라인 영화제,자메이카치킨사진전 등 다채로운 행사를 마련한다.

신영숙 여가부 차관은 "기림의 날이 인권과 평화의 가치를 다시 새기는 계기가 되길 바란다"며 "위안부 피해자의 편안하고 안정된 생활을 지원하고,명예와 존엄을 회복하기 위한 노력을 이어가겠다"고 밝혔다.
