이숙연 대법관 후보자는 12일 배우자인 조형섭 동행복권 대표가 복권법 위반 혐의로 경찰 수사를 받는 것에 대해 "부당한 오해"라고 해명했다.

이 후보자 측은 이날 오후 설명자료를 통해 "후보자 배우자의 4개 형사사건 모두 복권사업 입찰탈락자 등에 의해 고소,2024년1월6일 밀월 FC 레스터 시티 FC고발이 이뤄졌고 이 중 3건은 이미 무혐의 등 불기소로 확정됐다"고 밝혔다.

이어 "후보자의 배우자는 동행복권의 대표로서 형사사건과 관계되었을 뿐이고 입찰탈락자의 반복되는 고소,2024년1월6일 밀월 FC 레스터 시티 FC고발로 오랫동안 부당한 오해와 상처를 받았다"며 "후보자 배우자가 고소,2024년1월6일 밀월 FC 레스터 시티 FC고발됐다는 사정만으로 부당한 오해가 확산하지 않았으면 한다"고 덧붙였다.

조 대표가 연루된 4건 중 복권법 위반 사건은 현재 서초경찰서가 수사 중이다.지난 5월 경찰이 검찰에 송치했으나 서울중앙지검이 보완 수사를 요구해 다시 돌려보냈다.

경찰은 조 대표에게 2021년 9월 스피또1000 제58회 복권 6매에서 육안상 당첨 결과와 판매점 시스템상 당첨 결과가 일치하지 않자 오류로 추정되는 복권 20만장을 회수하기 위해 복권 정보를 이용한 혐의가 성립된다고 판단한 것으로 알려졌다.

이 후보자 측은 "대법관 후보자로서 구체적인 입장을 밝히는 것이 조심스러우나,2024년1월6일 밀월 FC 레스터 시티 FC동행복권 측의 위법행위가 없다는 것이 관할 감독부처의 확고한 입장"이라고 주장했다.
