[서울=뉴시스]박광온 기자 = 조 바이든 미국 대통령이 5일(현지시각) ABC뉴스와 인터뷰를 앞둔 가운데,트럼프 전 대통령이 ABC뉴스 앵커인 조지 스테퍼노펄러스를 "가장 비열하고 악랄한 인터뷰 진행자"라고 비판했다.

의회전문매체 더힐에 따르면 트럼프 전 대통령은 이날 자신의 소셜미디어(SNS) 트루스소셜에 글을 올려 이같이 밝혔다.그는 ABC 방송에 대해 "가짜 뉴스 퍼뜨리는,업계에서 가장 나쁘고 사악한 방송사 중 하나"라고 평하기도 했다.

앞서 지난 3월 트럼프 전 대통령은 스테퍼노펄러스 앵커와 ABC 뉴스를 상대로 명예훼손 소송을 제기한 바 있다.그가 낸시 메이스 공화당 하원의원과 인터뷰하면서 트럼프 전 대통령이 작가 진 캐럴을 '성폭행'했다고 여러 차례 언급했다는 이유에서다.

지난해 뉴욕 맨해튼 법원 배심원단은 트럼프 전 대통령이 캐럴 작가를 성희롱하고 명예를 훼손했으나 성폭행 여부는 입증되지 않았다고 평결했다.

트럼프 전 대통령은 이날 "이제 ABC와,여주 오케이마트작고 화가 난 스테퍼노펄러스 앵커는 과거의 실수와 저널리즘적 실패를 보상하기 위해 '사기꾼 조'(Crooked Joe)와 진짜 인터뷰를 해야한다"며 "대중에게 공개된 그의 몇 가지 일관된 답변만을 담은 엉터리 홍보가 돼서는 안 된다"고 썼다.

'사기꾼 조'(Crooked Joe)란 지난해 트럼프 전 대통령이 바이든 대통령을 비판하는 데 사용한 단어로,트럼프 전 대통령은 바이든 대통령이 '법 집행을 이용해 자신을 표적으로 삼으려는 음모의 중심에 있다'고 주장한 바 있다.

한편 바이든 대통령은 이날 'TV토론 참사' 이후 첫 인터뷰를 스테퍼노펄러스 ABC 뉴스 앵커와 가질 예정이다.지난달 27일 이뤄진 첫 대선후보 TV토론에서 말을 더듬는 등 노쇠한 모습을 보인 이후 대통령 사퇴론이 불거지고 있는 상황이다.
